Case Study: Quinn's Blueberries

quinns.jpgQuinn's Blueberries & Delica New Zealand

When it comes to berry growers, it’s hard to go past our blueberry growers Paddy and Maureen Quinn, exclusive suppliers of regular blues and their famous “Super Blueberries” to Delica Global. It was in 1980 that Paddy and Maureen moved from their sheep and cattle farm at Wellsford to begin growing blueberries in Hamilton. At the time this was seen as quite a risk, as the New Zealand public knew very little about blueberries, only what they saw in American movies or as a complimentary ingredient for apple pies. From day one Paddy and Maureen were perfectionists, and this is shown in the high quality of the blueberries they produce.

Not satisfied with just “regular blues” after eight years of experimenting, they erected two 6,000m2 plastic houses on their 7.5 hectare property and began to produce early season blueberries and their now famous 17mm+ “Super Blueberries” which are in high demand throughout the world. With the help of their son Paul, an engineer by trade, they are always using new and innovative techniques to continually improve their production.

If this was not enough, in recent years they have diverted some of their attention to art through their other company Mantiev, where they also trade in beautiful marble sculptures. All that remains is for you to try their “Supreme” regular blues and “Quinns Super Blueberries” - we guarantee the quality and taste will be a tribute to their 28 year journey. blueberry 7.jpg
